Childbirth Education and Partner Yoga

for Expectant Parents

How are you preparing so both of you feel confident for when the baby is coming and finally arrives?

 If you’re like most expectant parents, you may be feeling a certain amount of stress and uncertainty about labour, birth, and the post-partum period. That’s perfectly normal!

The good news is, there is a lot you can do to prepare yourself through education and body work that deepens your intuitional awareness of what’s happening within your pregnant body. 

 

That’s why a childbirth education expert (Jaklyn Andrews) has teamed up with a certified yoga therapist (Ashlie Burns) and a physiotherapist specializing in pelvic floor health (Karen San Andres) to give you the mental and physical preparation you need to thrive during your pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum experience. 

 Together we offer you the best of our worlds: a modern, evidence-based and judgement-free prenatal class, along with the incredible and lasting benefits of yoga and physiotherapy.

 

In this 5-week series, you’ll learn the following:

  • Pregnancy, labour and birth: stages, positions, coping strategies

  • Tips and tricks for confident birth partners

  • What happens in the first minutes, hours and days after baby is born

  • Postpartum care for mom and baby: recovery, infant care, feeding

  • Preventing/healing from pelvic floor weakness, “mummy tummy”

  

Prenatal yoga is beneficial for optimal physical and mental wellness, relief from aches and pains and strength for labour and delivery.  Yoga experience is not required – just bring your awesome selves. Both mothers and their partners will benefit from the yoga components of this class.

 

To prepare you for your separate roles in childbirth, we will lead you through the following:

  • Individual and partner poses to strengthen and stretch the body

  • Breath awareness and control

  • Exercises to deepen your personal connection with yourself, each other, and the growing baby within you
